“与其”，连词，比较两种需要选择的情况时，“与其”用在放弃的一面，后面常与“不如”“宁可”等搭配使用。例如:
“would rather”, a conjunction, when comparing two situations that need to be selected, “and” are used on the side of giving up, and often used with “not as good as” and “rather”. For example:
与其相信依靠别人，不如相信依靠自己。
It is better to rely on oneself than rely on others.
他这次考试考的很差，与其说他没有认真学习，我宁可相信是他运气差。
He did badly in this exam. I would rather believe that he was unlucky than that he didn’t study hard.
我们与其在家里面闲着，不如到图书馆去学习。
We’d rather go to the library to study than stay idle at home
