B：传说古代有一只叫做“年”的怪兽，每过一段时间就会到人类的聚集地来一次，人们把年每来一次称为一年。后来人们发现年害怕红色、亮光和响声，于是人们就将红纸贴在门前，就是现在的“对联”，晚上点亮灯火不灭直到天明，就是现在的“守岁”，用火烧竹子来驱赶“年’就是现在的鞭炮。
It’s said that in ancient times, there was a monster called “Nian” that would come to human gathering places every once in a while, and people called each visit a “Nian”. Later, people discovered that Nian was afraid of red, bright light, and noise, so they pasted red paper in front of their doors, which is now known as “couplets”. They lit up the lights at night and stayed on until dawn, which is now known as “Shousui”. They used fire to burn bamboo to drive away Nian, which is now known as firecrackers.
