“义务”可以做名词，也可以做形容词。
“Obligation” can be a noun or an adjective
当“义务”做名词的时候，表示在法律上或道德上应负的责任。
When “obligation” is used as a noun, it means legal or moral responsibility.
例如

（1）维护社会稳定，是我们每个人应该承担的义务。
(1) Maintaining social stability is an obligation that every one of us should undertake.
（2）建设美好家乡，是我们的责任也是我们的义务。
(2) It is our responsibility and obligation to build a beautiful hometown.
当“义务”做形容词的时候，表示不收报酬的。
When “obligation” is used as an adjective, it means no reward.
