Chinese Lesson: Hotel

Knowing some Chinese hotel words before you travel to a China will make life much easier! Even if you’re lucky enough to find the perfect hotel, it will be useful to know a few Chinese words and phrases so you can understand the staff assisting you.

 

Once you’ve checked in at a hotel, the receptionist will give you your key and tell you what room you’re in.

钥匙 (yàoshi) = The key

房间号 (fángjiān hào) =  room number

您在29号房 (nín zài èrshíjiǔ hào fang) = You are in room number 29.

 

Directions will be given with reference to floors…

一楼 (yī lóu) = First floor

二楼 (èr lóu) = Second floor

三楼 (sān lóu) = Third floor

四楼 (sì lóu) = Fourth floor

五楼 (wǔ lóu) = Fifth floor

电梯在哪儿?(diàntī zài nǎr) = Where is the elevator?

游泳池在哪儿?(yóuyǒng chí zài nǎr) = Where is the swimming pool?

餐厅在哪儿?(cāntīng zài nǎr) = Where is the restaurant?

你们在哪儿提供早餐?(nǐmen zài nǎr tígòng zǎocān) = Where do you serve breakfast?

If your room isn’t equipped with all the facilities you’d like, here are some useful phrases…

我需要更多的毛巾。(wǒ xūyào gèngduōde máojīn) = I need more towels.

我需要更多的香皂。(wǒ xūyào gèngduōde xiāngzào) = I need more soap.

我需要更多的卫生纸。(wǒ xūyào gèngduōde wèishēngzhǐ) = I need more toilet paper.

我需要另一条毯子。(wǒ xūyào lìngyītiáo tǎnzi) = I need an extra blanket.

双人床 (shuāngrén chuáng) = A double bed

空调 (kōngtiáo) = The air conditioner

暖气 (nuǎnqì) = The heater

暖气坏了(nuǎnqì huài le) = The heater is broken

脏 (zāng) = Dirty

吵 (chǎo) = Noisy

干净 (gānjìng) = Clean

冷 (lěng) = Cold

热 (rè) = Hot

水 (shuǐ) = Water

灯 (dēng) = Light

坏了 (huài le) = To be broken

令人无法接受 (lìng rén wúfǎ jiēshòu) = Unacceptable
